SUC graduates involved of 30 nationalities at the 26th Graduation Ceremony

The highlight of Skyline University College (SUC) 26th graduation ceremony was the dynamic and diverse crowd that filled the University City Hall, Sharjah on November 24, 2016. SUC, an institution that persistently pursuing its vision of academic excellence with the aim of developing knowledge, skills, competencies, and value-based education in UAE has graduated 329 BBA and MBA students of more than 30 nationalities. Among the graduating students are officials from various departments and ministries across the UAE including the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, police departments, executive council offices, and numerous corporates who triumphantly finished their degrees at SUC. The chief guest of the ceremony was H.E. Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qassimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Corporation and Member of the Sharjah Executive Council, UAE.

Keeping in mind the UAE leaders’ advocacy of promoting tolerance in the region, SUC for the past 26 years has been practicing the spirit of tolerance in its community of 60 nationalities and more than 30 of which are graduates of the academic year 2015-2016. The graduates symbolize SUC’s diversified student body and are living proofs that the value of tolerance, respect, and acceptance are vividly portrayed and represented in this year’s graduation ceremony. Also merging with these 30 nationalities are two pairs of Emirati siblings who graduated on this day.

The ceremony kicked off with the UAE National Anthem followed by the Quran recital by Moaaz Mahmudul Hassan.

Afra Saif Mohamed Ali Alteneiji, Master of Business Administration with Emphasis on E-Governance, Summa Cum Laude said in her speech, “We believe that in order for us to grow as well-groomed professionals, we need to constantly learn to dance in the sway of this changing world that we live in. SUC has taught us that innovation and creativity are two of our greatest weapon to stand out in the fiercely competitive industries of today. This milestone is indeed a testament of our hard work and determination to reach this very day. We pay tribute to our professors who have tirelessly taught, guided, and provided us with good education. We honor the inspiration we received from our parents and from the people in the government and corporates who have shared with us their stories and journeys through workshops and lectures at SUC.”

Following the conferral of degrees, Mr. Kamal Puri, Founder President of Skyline University College delivered his speech saying, “Through innovation, good entrepreneurship, and multi-cultural environment, SUC has come a long way since the day of its inception. We have humbly merged 60 different nationalities in one institution and proved that races and culture differences is not a hindrance to acquire a proper education. This is rather a secret ingredient to broaden the knowledge of the students and see things in ways that no one has ever seen. Thus, SUC has consistently instilled innovation and entrepreneurship to the students who have learned to explore things in different perspectives over the course of their higher education journey. We stand proud to witness our graduates embark on a whole new journey and watch them prosper in their lives.”

Prominent guests such as ambassadors, consul generals, government officials, VIPs, media and corporate leaders attended the ceremony to witness this remarkable milestone in the students’ educational pursuit. Business leaders, principals, counselors from leading schools in UAE as well as parents of the graduating class graced the occasion with great anticipation.

Congratulating the graduating students, SUC Dean, Dr. Amitabh Upadhya told the students that now is the real test of their mettle when they join the real workforce and apply the knowledge, skills, and competencies that they have acquired at SUC. He wished them well and hoped they will all make SUC proud wherever they are.

Mr. Nitin Anand, SUC Executive Director and Chair of the Executive Council presented a memento to Chief Guest H.E. Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qassimi as a gesture of appreciation for his gracious presence. The award ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks to the Chief Guest and other dignitaries for their sincere participation in the event.

Middle East’s top education awards programme increases international interest; call for entries announced

The GESS Education Awards has announced it is now accepting entries for the fourth edition of the premier education awards in the region.

GESS Education Awards (GEA) has recognized and rewarded the quality and diversity of educational products, resources, services and people as well as the best educational institutions and outstanding accomplishments of education professionals to raise quality standards for teaching and learning in schools across the region.

Based primarily in the UAE, GEA has nonetheless received international attention, with submissions coming from the UK, Denmark, South Africa, Colombia, Pakistan, Australia, India and Egypt; in addition to entries received from Middle Eastern countries.

“We want to celebrate excellence in the education sector in the Middle East, to contribute to the raising of quality standards that will hopefully help spur meaningful and lasting change in the Arab world in the years, to come,” said Sarah Edwards-Palmer, Marketing Manager, F&E Group, organisers of the GESS Education Awards that will take place on March 15, 2017. “The interest from international companies is again very strong with submissions coming in from USA, India, Egypt, UK, Canada, Pakistan, Spain, Oman and Finland.”

Among the highlights of the recognition programme is the Lifetime Achievement Award, given in partnership with Táaleem, which celebrates an individual or initiative that has had a great impact on the education landscape in the Middle East.

The awards are open to submissions for various categories, grouped into two distinct sections – one for suppliers and/or distributors of educational products and services; another for schools, teachers and education professionals. Tips on Stressing Out Over the Future

It was last summer, I decided to stay home instead of moving to different country for further education. In a midst of thought, phone rang, guess what! It’s my lovely friend Stella, who’s leaving Arizona for further studies and willing to spend some quality time with me.  So, we went to Jumeirah beach, the warm white sand, the crystal clear blue waters made a perfect setting for me and my friend to bask in the orange glow of the sun. As I enjoyed the cool breeze on my face and hot sand under my feet, I could feel something was bothering her. While, she was busy clicking pictures of ocean, a2mazing skyline of Dubai and loads of selfies together.  She couldn’t stop taking deep sigh after every click and said “I’m gonna miss you and this place mate.”

I looked at Dubai’s skyline and thanked Almighty for his wonderful creation ocean while Stella looked around with sadness and I wondered if she’s stressed about the future. So, I immediately spoke to her about measures to release stress and stay in present and live life.  The following practices have helped me a lot in staying positive and lead a stress free life.

Figure it out what it is that, you are actually worried about

Do you fear loneliness, rejection or failure? Whatever the cause of fear is, once you can find it, you can face that fear accordingly.

Meditate

Meditating helps you to stay in present. When you meditate, for five twenty minutes, you make your mind free from all worry and stress, and force to stay in positive state of mind. Personally, I have many experiences where I have been worried on particular task, my targets to be achieved and eventually combat stress by meditating for a simple 10 minutes, and come back to finish the task in an efficient manner.

Exercise

Exercise helps you to remain healthy and active. Every exercise whether it is yoga, cardio, weightlifting, martial arts, or any kind of physical activity, during the time of exercising, your body release endorphins that allows you to feel relax and calm and sometimes you won’t even think of what you were worried about at the first place itself.

Think about where you a year ago today

Whenever I’m worried about future, I remind myself on my mistakes and where I was a year ago and where am I today. As I mentioned earlier, I was planning to move out of country for further education, and was quite upset about so many things that avoided me from moving and finally ended up deciding not to leave! Do you know Stella, many things we worry about do not exist and it only enters into our life if we invite them or give them space and in most cases it rises due to circumstances that are beyond our control. So, accept and let it go!

If we worry about future so much then probably we might miss the chance to live happily. So learn from past, live in present and keep looking forward.
